Exhibitionism for Celebrities
Exhibitionism as an 'unnormal behavior' known since 1877 when described by french psychiatrist Charles Lasegue, but not considered unnormal in all cases today. Some girls exposing themselves can be seen on uncensored images in for-all-available article about phenomenon of Wikipedia.
Exhibitionism is desire or compulsion to expose one's body in public or semi-public place. It can be unthretening (like so called flashing) or thretening (when it is out of forms of local behavior morals and public laws). But bieng prohibited by society it only becomes more attractive to it's adherents. Extravagant desire to appear naked in public also is called apodysophilia.
This behavior is mostly about two things: shocking and attracting attention. That is why so many stars use this like a stardom instrument. A lot changed in industry since times of Beatles and other pop-groups who were dressing similarly. Today job of celebrities is more to attract attension and to shock then to sing or to act in movies.
Lady Gaga (she is not the only one) who encourages a lot of other celebrities to wear clothes of extravagant style also encouraged them contrarily to expose or semi-expose as extravagantly as possible. There is only one case which is more famous (or infamous) then Gaga's flashing. SuperBowl XXXVIII half-time show scandal with Janet Jackson involved. But difference is that natural exhibitionists do it for fun, when celebrities for 'professional purposes'. So, I really doubt that Lady Gaga suffers apodysophilia.
Exhibitionism is not just about being naked. When you came to doctor or to masseur and get naked - you are normal client, if you came to pro photographer and you get naked in studio - you are normal model, but if you stay in front of unknown or not that known) people and get naked you are exhibitionist.
And the most radical kind of this behavior may be called as Urban Outdoor Exhibitionism. It looks as challenging as forbidden. And Playboy magazine places it stakes on the forbidden numbers since december of 1953.
Phryne was haetera and helped artists like nude model.
