During recent season Playboy tried to persuade Caroline Wozniacki who finished last season as WTA#1, but her agent said to dannish paper Ekstra Bladet that won't go well with her image created in last years. Girl who has 18 WTA titles and more then $18m of prize money in career prefers to be a good girl.
True that Caroline is not primal aim in tennis. According to The Top Tens survey Maria Sharapova holds #2 (the same way as she is WTA#2 currently) position among sport women wanted by Playboy readers (better say watchers), first place hold by hegh jumper.
Maria Sharapova is woman earning $24m approxiamately (according to Forbes) and most of this are her advertising contracts (including $7m per year with Nike, only LeBron James has bigger Nike contract). So sponsors won't like it, family audience is target market of Big Corps. Maria really benefits from Good Girl Image. no need to try to persuade her while she cuts through the stages of Indian Wells tournament.
Another aim is Miss Kournikova. Though she is former tennisplayer and never won US open like Sharapova. Playboy states that they can pay such a money that even Kurnikova will think about it. But first - posing in Playboy is not only about money, and second - Anna and her boyfriend have so much money that it is not about money at all.
So may be she won't appear naked in Playboy next year. No matter that there is no information about certain refuse. So playboy more loses on the court, but there is also some rare good luck and let's see what they achieved.

Vanessa Menga became first-known such a good luck. Women highest ranked as WTA#163 and who once entered round three on Grand Slam Tournament appeared in Playboy magazine in 2001, in it's Brazil edition. Frankly, it was not best photoshoot.
Then it was the most famous case Ashley Harkleroad agreed to proposal. Turning Pro in 2000 she was then nicknamed as 'American Anna'. This girl also had never proceed far then round three on Grand Slam, she had much more impressive record then Menga. She won more then $1m during her career together with beeing highest ranked as #39 in June 2003.
Ashley appeared in august edition 2008 of American Playboy. After losing to Serena Williams at French Open she told reporters about upcoming issue. She said she was inspired of pictures of Olimpic Champion Amanda Beard published in 2007.
Pictures of Tennis players also appeared in non-american editions. The most remarkable was photoshoot of 15 ITF titles holder now 24 years old Karolina Jovanovic from Serbia. True that only after appearing in Playboy Serbia in september 2010, she became rather famous. She won only $32 thousand during career.
Another serbian tenniswoman in Playboy is Ljubica Avramovic. Frankly, she only played tennis as junior. then having injury she just said farewell to a cruel world of Big Sporting Events.
Another case is Paulina Wingelaar. But looks like Gooisch Meisje can't be find in record of WTA. So she is Amateur player... but only in tennis, of course.
